In total, up to 40 malts and grain whiskies make up the Black Label blend, all of which are at least 12 years old. Johnnie Walker contains older, smoother whiskies than most blended whiskies and a higher percentage of the more flavoursome malt element. The final blend is a combination of Speyside whiskies with a fair amount of smokier Talisker to produce a whisky that is characterful, smooth and high in quality.
